Bonner Leads OKC Energy FC in USL Playoff Win


EDINBURG, Texas – Former UNCW men's soccer standout Colin Bonner came off the bench to score two goals in stoppage time as OKC Energy FC rallied to earned a dramatic 3-2 victory over Rio Grande Valley FC in the Western Conference Quarterfinals of the 2016 USL Cup Playoffs on Saturday night.

Bonner, who scored two goals in 15 regular season games with OKC, evened the score at 2-2 after scoring off a throw-in by Michael Harris at midfield. OKC earned a late corner kick later in stoppage time, which Bonner headed in for the game-winning goal.

OKC Energy FC advances to the Western Conferernce Semifinals to face sixth-seeded Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 3 p.m. The game will feature a pair of former Seahawks as Bonner goes against his UNCW teammate and Vancouver goalkeeper Sean Melvin
