WILMINGTON, North Carolina – With hopes of improving its position in the Colonial Athletic Association standings, the UNCW women's soccer team goes back on the road again this weekend for a pair of key conference contests at Elon and William & Mary.
The Seahawks, who are 9-4-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the CAA, will visit Elon on Friday night for a 7 p.m. match against the Phoenix before traveling to William & Mary for a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee against the Tribe.
Live stats for both contests will be available by visiting UNCWStats.com. A video broadcast for Friday's game at Elon can be viewed via the Seahawk Digital Network while Sunday's game can be seen via TribeAthletics.TV.
UNCW split a pair of road contests last weekend to open the month of October. After edging Hofstra by a 2-1 margin in overtime on Friday night, the Seahawks saw an end to their nine-game unbeaten streak as Northeastern rallied to earn a 3-2 overtime victory at Parsons Field.
Senior forward
Katrina Guillou brings a four-game point-scoring streak into this weekend's contests. The Seahawks' leading scorer with 17 points, she has scored four goals with two assists during the streak, including both goals at Northeastern on Sunday.
Elon, which is in its second season as a member of the CAA, brings an 8-2-2 overall record into Friday's match against the Seahawks after dispatching Francis Marion, 6-0, on Tuesday night. However, the Phoenix will be in search of their first conference win of the year after losing against Hofstra and earning a scoreless tie against Northeastern.
William & Mary has been idle for 10 days headling into its match against College of Charleston on Friday night. Currently 7-3-1 overall and 1-1-0 in the CAA, the Tribe will be playing for the first time since earning a 3-1 win over Northeastern on Sept. 27. The Tribe was slated to play Elon last weekend, but inclement weather forced the match to be postponed.
After this weekend's matches, the Seahawks return home to begin a three-game homestand to finish the regular season. UNCW will host James Madison and Towson next weekend before an Oct. 25 contest against College of Charleston.
