Behind The Number: Terence Connelly


With the season just around the corner, we'll take a look at the UNCW baseball program and the players who make up the roster. 

Terence Connelly moved into the starting lineup as a freshman and has never left. In two seasons with the Seahawks, he has scored 100 runs and owns the career record with 37 hit by pitches.

The Seahawks open the 2015 season with Richmond on Feb. 13, as part of the Buffalo Wild Wings Battle at the Beach Classic.

Terence Connelly actionUNCWSPORTS.COM: Why did you choose to attend UNCW?
TC: UNCW was a great opportunity to become part of a great baseball program, athletic department, and receive a great education.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: Describe a moment when you felt the most Seahawk pride.
TC: I felt the most Seahawk pride when we beat number one ranked UNC in Chapel Hill.  The UNCW fans were loud all night and had our backs knowing that we would be able to win.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: What are some community activities you or your team have done?
TC: As a team we go down to the Miracle League field of Wilmington as much as possible to play baseball with some of the coolest people in the area.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: What is your intended or declared major and why did you choose that major?
TC: Math.  I chose math because when I have to hang the cleats up I want to be able to teach and coach at the high school level.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: Describe your dream job:
TC: President of the United States.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: If you could play another sport at UNCW, what would it be and why?
TC: I would play club hockey because I like the physical and competitive aspects of the game.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: Which teammate will have the most interesting job in 10 years and why?
TC: Will Shepley. He will be some big shot somewhere and travel all over the world for it.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: What animal would best describe you and why?
TC: I would be a bald eagle because I love all things American.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: What is your favorite quote or phrase?
TC: Sometimes you are the bug and sometimes you are the windshield.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: What is your favorite type of food (i.e. Chinese, Mexican, Italian etc.)?
TC: American.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: Favorite place you have visited or traveled to and why?
TC: The favorite place I've been to has been Alaska.  It was an awesome experience to be able to play up there and be around such a great group of people.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: If you could sit down for lunch with anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
TC: George W. Bush because he's an American icon.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: Most addicting television show?
TC: Jeopardy.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: Tell us something about yourself that most people don't know …
TC: I dislike chocolate.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: What is number one on your bucket list and why?
TC: I want to travel the world and experience different cultures.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: What is your best non-athletic skill?
TC: I'm pretty good at cooking… At least I think so.

TC: Chew with your mouth closed because it's disgusting.

UNCWSPORTS.COM: What is something you are afraid of?
TC: Heights.
