WILMINGTON, North Carolina – After earning a pair of wins inside Trask Coliseum to open the season, Coach
Adell Harris and the UNCW women's basketball team will make their first road trip of the 2014-15 campaign when they travel to Appalachian State University on Saturday, Nov. 22 for a non-conference game at the Holmes Convocation Center.

Now 2-0 on the season, the Seahawks have earned back-to-back wins to start the year for the first time since the 2011-12 campaign. They are coming off an 89-80 home victory over Campbell on Wednesday night.
Senior guard
Kelva Atkins (Granville Central H.S./Stem, N.C.) led UNCW to the victory on Wednesday night by scoring 29 points while dishing out six assists. She made 10 of 19 shots from the floor and scored 25 or more points for the fourth time in her UNCW career.
Meanwhile, sophomore guard
Johanna McMillan (Sanford School/Mullica Hill, N.J.) added a career-high 17 points in the victory on Wednesday by making six of nine field goal attempts, including a five-for-eight effort from beyond the arc.
Sophomore forward
Ryan Flowers (Millbrook H.S./Hickory, N.C.) had an outstanding season debut against the Camels on Wednesday, posting the fifth "double double" of her college career with 13 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
Atkins is the Seahawks' leading scorer by averaging 19.5 points per game while shooting 50.0 per cent from the field. She is also averaging 8.5 rebounds and 6.5 assists per contest.
Currently 1-1 on the season, the Mountaineers earned their first win of the season on Wednesday night by edging East Tennessee State, 76-70. The Mountaineers trailed for most of the game against the Bucs before taking their first lead with 8:54 left in regulation.
Senior forward
Maryah Sydnor (Radford H.S./Radford, Va.) led the Mountaineers to the victory on Wednesday night by scoring 25 points with eight rebounds. She scored 16 of her 25 points in the second half as Appalachian State shot 51.9 per cent from the field after the intermission to earn the win.
Senior guard
Katie Mallow (Brookwood H.S./Snellville, Ga.) added a career-high 21 points with a game-high six assists in the victory.
Sydnor leads the Mountaineers by averaging 29.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. She is also shooting 58.3 per cent from the field in the team's two games with a .929 free throw percentage. Mallow ranks second on the team with a 17.0 point per game average.
The Seahawks and the Mountaineers will be meeting for the eighth time in a series Appalachian State leads by a 6-1 margin. After earning a 54-47 victory over the Seahawks in last year's meeting at Trask Coliseum, the Mountaineers have won six straight games in the series.
UNCW will be making its first visit to Boone since the 1994-95 season when the Mountaineers earned a 78-41 victory.
Following Saturday's game, the Seahawks will return to Trask Coliseum to begin a six-game homestand by facing former Colonial Athletic Association rival VCU on Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 7:00 p.m.
