SEAHAWKS TO PLAY IN CHICAGO INVITATIONAL

WILMINGTON, N.C. -
The 2007-08 men's basketball schedule at UNC Wilmington is still a work in progress, but the Seahawks already know what they'll be doing during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Coach Benny Moss and his revamped club will be one of eight teams scheduled to appear in the 2nd Annual Chicago Invitational Challenge on Nov. 23-24 at the Sears Centre Arena outside the Windy City. UNCW will be joined by Coppin State, Illinois State, Indiana, Kent State, Longwood, Southeast Missouri State and Xavier in the eight-team event.

Four games are on tap for Friday, Nov. 23, with the championship round set for Saturday, Nov. 24, at the 11,000-seat arena in Hoffman Estates, Ill. The Seahawks will travel to Indiana and Illinois State to battle the Hoosiers and Redbirds in the first two rounds of the unique event.

"We're very pleased to be involved with the Chicago Challenge," said Benny Moss, UNCW's second-year coach. "Scheduling is always difficult and this gives us an opportunity to pick up games against good quality competition. We're looking forward to being a part of this format."

UNCW opens the Chicago bracket with a Noon tipoff against Longwood, followed by Southeast Missouri State vs. Coppin State (2:30 p.m.), Xavier vs. Kent State (5 p.m.) and Indiana vs. Illinois State (7:30 p.m.). All times are Central.

Saturday's schedule has the loser of UNCW-LU playing the loser of SEMO-CSU at 11:30 a.m., the winner of UNCW-LU battling the winner of SEMO-CSU at 2 p.m., the loser of XU-KSU taking on the loser of IU-ISU at 5 p.m. and the winner of XU-KSU playing the winner of IU-ISU at 7:30 p.m.
