Vaughn Tabbed As CAA Rookie of the Week

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW freshman Addi Vaughn was named Rookie of the Week, the Coastal Athletic Association announced Monday.

Vaughn became the first Seahawk to earn CAA Rookie of the Week honors since Katie Lanz did so in 2019.

In two matches, Vaughn handed out 86 assists, averaging 9.56 per set. In her collegiate starting debut against Alabama State, Vaughn recorded 38 assists in a four-set win. She followed that with a 48-assist effort in a five-set loss at Gardner-Webb.

Vaughn's 48 assists were the most by a Seahawk freshman since Brynn Montgomery handed out 48 against Hofstra during the 2017 season.

Defensively, Vaughn had 12 digs against ASU and added 13 against GW, giving her a pair of double-doubles.

The Seahawks return to action on Sept. 11 with a noon start against Norfolk State at the UNCW Hampton Inn University Invitational. UNCW will also take on in-state rival UNCA at 6:30 p.m. that evening.
