Volleyball Preview: at Winthrop

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Seahawks return to the road this weekend with a pair of matches in Rock Hill, S.C., against Winthrop and North Carolina Central, beginning on Friday at 5 p.m.

Last weekend, UNCW went 1-2 at the UNCW Hampton Inn University Invitational. After opening the weekend with a win over Norfolk State, the Seahawks dropped consecutive decisions to UNC Asheville and Harvard.

Senior setter Gaby Zovko earned all-tournament honors by averaging 8.5 assists and 2.58 digs per set. 

Sophomore Meredith Keefer moved into the rotation and collected a team-leading 27 kills in the tournament, including a career-high 14 against Norfolk State.

Junior Nadia Wasilewski continued her strong season with 23 kills and now leads the roster with 77 kills for the season.

UNCW faces Winthrop on Friday at 5 p.m. on ESPN+ and wraps up the weekend with a noon start on Saturday against NC Central.

The Seahawks open conference play on Sept. 25 at defending Coastal Athletic Association champion Campbell.
