WILMINGTON, N.C. – Highlighted by three former UNCW standouts, the Greater Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame announced Wednesday its class for induction weekend on May 14-16, 2027.
 
Brett Blizzard, Bruce Cavenaugh and Michelle Jarman will represent the Seahawks in May and are joined by Johnnie Forte, a long-time football official, and Donnell Holmes, a former decorated boxer. 
 
Blizzard, a Tallahassee, Florida, native, starred for the Seahawks from 1999-2003, starting all 125 games and leaving with a basket full of school records unmatched by any player in the school's history. He remains the Seahawks' all-time scoring leader with more than 2,000 points and ranks among the top performers in several other statistical categories, including first in steals and minutes played.
 
Blizzard is considered one of the top performers in CAA history. He is the only player in the league to earn First-Team All-CAA and All-CAA Tournament honors four straight years. Moreover, he was named CAA Player of the Year in 2002 and 2003 and earned CAA Tournament MVP honors in 2000, 2002 and 2003.
 
At UNCW, Cavenaugh was a four-year starter from 1970-73 and belted 18 home runs with 74 RBIs during his four-year career. He also had 37 stolen bases and scored 125 runs in his four seasons for the Seahawks.
 
Cavenaugh, who hails from Wilmington, was a three-time NAIA District 28 selection and enjoyed his finest season in 1971 when he batted .314 with six doubles, four triples and six home runs. Cavenaugh completed his career as the program's all-time home run and stolen base leader.
 
Jarman, a Wilmington native and John T. Hoggard High School graduate, was a four-time All-Conference performer for UNCW from 2002-06, leading the team to a pair of conference titles and three NCAA East Regional appearances. She also registered a top-20 finish as an individual at the 2006 NCAA Regionals.
 
 She racked up numerous statistical achievements for the Seahawks. Jarman finished with a 76.46 career scoring average over 119 rounds, with five individual tournament victories. She powered the Seahawks to seven tournament crowns.

Jarman was tabbed the 2005 and 2006 CAA Women's Golf Scholar Athlete of the Year and was named the 2005 Coastal Athletic Association Female Scholar Athlete of the Year. She was the recipient of the Thomas V. Moseley Award for the 2005-06 season at the school's season-ending athletic awards banquet.
 
The GWSHOF was founded in 2005 under the direction of Hall of Fame Coach and Administrator Bill Dooley. This year marks the group's 20th induction and a total of 84 individuals from various sports or fields have been recognized through the years.
 
Plans for the 2027 induction weekend are set. An introductory luncheon will be conducted on Friday, May 14, 2027, at the Wilmington Convention Center, followed by the Joe Miller Memorial Golf Tournament at the Wilmington Municipal Course on Saturday, May 15, 2027. The weekend reaches a crescendo with the banquet and formal induction ceremony on Sunday, May 16, 2027, at the convention center.
