Allen Named CAA Pitcher of the Week For Third Time

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW junior Cooper Allen was honored on Monday by the Coastal Athletic Association as the Co-Pitcher of the Week, following another tremendous start in a win over Hofstra.

Allen improved to 6-2 with his first career shutout on Saturday, going eight innings in a run-rule 12-0 victory against the Pride. The righthander set a career high with 11 strikeouts, allowed four hits, a double, and did not walk a batter.

It was his seventh outing in which he allowed one or no runs.

On the season, Allen has fashioned a league-leading 1.77 earned run average, compiled a 0.82 WHIP (walks plus hits per inning), and shut down opposing bats to a .178 batting average.

Nationally, Allen's ERA ranks 15th, his WHIP is third, and he is 10th in hits allowed per nine innings at 5.61.

The Seahawks host Coastal Carolina, which reached the finals of the College World Series last season, on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
