Seahawks Finish Second at SeaBest Invitational

JACKSONVILLE, Florida – The UNCW men's golf program opened the spring 2026 season with a second-place showing at the SeaBest Invitational hosted by the University of Jacksonville at the Atlantic Beach Country Club from Feb. 2-3.

Fifth-ranked Florida edged UNCW (280-279=559) by one stroke for the team title. It marked the third time the Seahawks finished as runners-up this season after earning second place at Duke's Rod Myers Invitational and at the Elon Phoenix Invitational in the fall.

UCF's Chase Haygood and Texas A&M's Aaron Pounds both claimed individual medalist honors.

 A trio of Seahawks – Preston Worch, James Rico and Ethan Boyette – authored top 10 tournaments, with Rico and Worch combining for 21 of UNCW's 34 birdies. Boyette added an Eagle on Hole No. 13 of Monday's first round.

The tournament was shortened to 36-holes, with one round played on both Monday and Tuesday, due to weather.

The Seahawks next return to action at The Prestige hosted by UC Davis from Feb. 16-18 in La Quinta, Calif.
