Men's Swimming Extends CAA Dominance With 5th Straight Title

HAMPTON, Va. – The UNCW Men's Swimming and Diving program continued its dominance of the Coastal Athletic Association on Saturday at the Hampton Aquaplex, winning its fifth straight conference title and 18th overall.

The men topped the field with 852 points. The women's program, meanwhile, saw its run of three consecutive crowns halted with a second-place finish.

On Saturday, the Seahawks recorded another NCAA qualifier when sophomore Joseph Busic clocked in with a time of 1:43.52 to win the 200 Fly. He joins William Carrico and Cameron Snowden as Seahawks heading to the NCAA Championships.

Snowden, who was named Most Outstanding Performer, captured her third championship of the conference meet when she topped the 100 Free field with a time of 48.88 seconds. She took gold in both the 100 Fly and 50 Free earlier in the meet.

Also earning medals on Saturday for UNCW were MaKenna Sharpe on the 1-meter board (second); Women's 400 Free Relay (Alex Tysinger, Emily Waite, Olivia Corbi, Cameron Snowden) (second); Men's 400 Free Relay (Hil Lindsay, William Carrico, Joseph Busic, Nathan Jao); Andy Commins in the 200 Fly (second); Gil Shaw in the 200 Breast (second); William Carrico in the 200 Breast (second); Hil Lindsay in the 100 Free (third); Maeren McGonigal in the 200 Back (second); Ingrid Janney in the 200 Back (third); Wilson Tuttle in the 1650 Free (second).

Snowden will next compete at the NCAA Women's Championships on Mar. 18-21 in Atlanta, Ga. Carrico and Busic will return to the pool at the Men's Championship the following week (Mar. 25-28), also in Atlanta.
