Snowden, Carrico Heading To NCAA Championships

Seahawk men carry lead into final day of CAA Championships

HAMPTON, Va. – Both Cameron Snowden and William Carrico earned automatic qualifiers to the NCAA Championships and UNCW continued to hold its lead in the men's meet following the third day of the Coastal Athletic Association Swimming & Diving Championship on Friday at the Hampton Aquaplex.

The UNCW men lead Towson by 68 points while the women trail William & Mary by 231.

Snowden will return to the NCAA Championships for a second straight season after winning the 100 Butterfly with a time of 52.06 seconds.

Carrico, who earned a qualifying time in the 200 IM on Thursday, won the 400 IM with a meet, conference and program record time of 3:42.15.

Olivia Corbi, a sophomore, gave UNCW a sweep of the 400IM with a winning time of 4:17.58.

Ethan Badrian became the first four-time champion of the 3-meter board when he totaled 347.40 points.

Also earning medals for the Seahawks were Joseph Busic in the 100 Fly (Third); Grace Tuchi in the 400 IM (Third), Ian Frazer in the 400 IM (Second), Jack Haywood in the 200 Free (Third), Gil Shaw in the 100 Breast (Third), Maeren McGonigal in the 100 Back (Third), Jack VanHowe in the 100 Back (Third) and Brendan Doe on the 3-meter board (Third)

The championship concludes on Saturday beginning with the prelims at 9:30 a.m.
