UNCW Relays Take Gold Twice

Women's Medley Relay sets thre records with one swim

HAMPTON, Va. – UNCW opened its Coastal Athletic Association title defenses with a bang on Wednesday as the women's 200 Medley Relay set three records with one swim at the Hampton Aquaplex.

The relay of Maeren McGonigal, Gil Shaw, Cameron Snowden and Alex Tysinger combined for a first-place time of 1:37.83, setting new standards all-time for the CAA, the conference championship and the program.

On the men's 1-meter board, Etan Ferguson, a junior, claimed his first conference medal, taking second with a score of 303.40 points.

The men's 800 Free Relay of Nathan Jao, William Carrico, Will Spencer and Jack Haywood earned gold with a time of 6:24.66.

The championship continues Thursday, with preliminaries beginning at 9:30 a.m., followed by women's 3-meter board prelims at Noon, and the finals getting underway at 5:30 p.m.
