Higgins, Robbins Earn Top-10 Finishes at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA – Miles Higgins and Jordyn Robbins, the Coastal Athletic Association's top-ranked javelin throwers, finished in the top 10 at the Penn Relays on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Franklin Field.

"I just want to continue to thank everybody who keeps making this trip to Penn Relays such an honor and a privilege for our program, " head coach Jeff Klaves said. "We put this event back on the schedule two years ago and it's a place where we want to continue to come yearly because of the championship atmosphere and high standards that it provides."

"We dealt with some unfortunate rain during the men's and women's javelin. I'm proud of the way we competed regardless of circumstance. Both athletes continue to make finals at high-level meets."

Higgins, the CAA's men's runner-up in 2024, threw 62.20 meters (204-1) on his first attempt to finish fifth. He ranks 29th in the NCAA East Region in 2025 with a winning throw of 65.52 meters (214- 11) at the UNCW Seahawk Invitational (March 7).

"Miles was dialed in. There was no doubt about it. I felt that every time he hit the runway he had a chance to win. A fifth-place medal here is a big deal."

Robbins, the 2024 Women's CAA Javelin Throw Champion, threw 43.74 meters (143-6) on her third attempt in the competition to finish seventh. Robbins ranks 46th in the NCAA East Region with a throw of 45.59 meters (149-7) at the Duke Invitational (April 12).

"She is continuing to do the right things. Jordyn is chasing some elite goals and continues to put herself in a position to win each time she competes."

UP NEXT

The Seahawks will compete for three days at the East Coast Relays in Jacksonville, Florida, beginning on May 1.

"We have now turned the corner into championship season. I'm going to challenge our team to sharpen and refine so that we can excel when the pressure is at its highest at the conference championship."
