LEXINGTON, KY. – UNCW men's track and field senior Cameron Wright closed his season Thursday at the NCAA East First Round in the men's 110-meter hurdles.
"No hesitation. Cam is a champion, a school record holder and today he put himself in a position to run with the nations best", said Head Coach Jeff Klaves. "His career and legacy will be centered around what happens when you work hard and keep competing. Competing daily at practice, chasing your goals and racing through the line. He brings an uplifting smile regardless of the wins and losses. Today we celebrate a tremendous seniors season and career."
Wright competed in the fourth heat of the 110-meter hurdles on the opening day of competition at the NCAA East First Round.
The senior capped off a standout season by continuing to rewrite the program record book and climb the Seahawks' all-time top-10 lists. Wright lowered his own school record in the men's 100 meters with a time of 10.29 seconds at the VertKlasse Meeting after setting the previous mark last season. In the 110-meter hurdles, Wright posted a time of 13.87 seconds,
at the 2026 CAA Championship which ranks third in program history.
Over his collegiate career, Wright recorded five top-10 finishes at the Coastal Athletic Association Outdoor Track and Field Championships, including winning the 110-meter hurdles conference title in 2025.
Wright also qualified for the NCAA East First Round during the 2025 season, where he finished 30th overall in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.11 seconds.
"I am so proud of all that Cam has been for UNCW. We will continue to hold the standards he helped set. He represents our team's identity to his core and we look forward to telling the stories of hard work and resilience that led to these type of moments", said Klaves.
