UNCW Wins 31 Races In Sweep Of Gardner-Webb

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW captured 31 races, dropping just one, as the Seahawks swept visiting Gardner-Webb in college swimming action on Saturday at Allen Natatorium.

The Seahawks improved to 1-1 on the men's side (209-87) while the women won their season debut (206-71). GW, meanwhile, dropped to 0-2 on both sides.

Multiple-event winners for the Seahawk women included Olivia Corbi (200 Free, 500 Free), Gil Shaw (100 Breast, 200 Breast), Maeren McGonigal (200 Fly, 200 IM) and Cameron Snowden (50 Free, 100 Fly).

For the men, Wilson Tuttle (200 Free, 500 Free), Mason Hetzell (100 Breast, 200 Breast), Nathan Jao (50 Free, 100 Free), Andy Commins (100 Fly, 200 Fly) and William Carrico (200 Back, 200 IM) all won twice.

Snowden added four relay wins while McGonigal and Jao added three apiece.

Up next for UNCW, diving visits East Carolina on Oct. 25 and both the diving and swimming programs host William & Mary and Queens on Nov. 1.
