Softball Signs Four Transfers for 2025 Season

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW softball Head Coach Ashley Wade has signed four transfers to the defending Coastal Athletic Association champions for the 2025 season.
 
Charlotte transfers Taylor Barlow (right-handed pitcher) and Mary Grace Beyer (corner infielder) will join the Seahawks for the upcoming season. Michigan State transfer Makayla Huddleston (right-handed pitcher) and Eastern Kentucky transfer Maggie Pertee (middle infielder) will also aid UNCW's quest for a third conference title in four years.
 

MAGGIE PERTEE
Pertee, a 5-6 rising senior, is a career .295 hitter (119-for-403) with 14 home runs, 58 RBI and 31 steals over three seasons with the Colonels.
 
The Uniontown, Ohio, native was an ASUN Third-Team All-Conference selection as a sophomore when she was top-five in the league in batting average (.367) and hits (58) along with a career-high nine home runs and four triples.
 

TAYLOR BARLOW
Barlow faced a pair of Power Five opponents in limited action as a freshman with the 49ers, champions of the American Athletic Conference. The Charlotte, N.C. product struck out a batter in her college debut at no. 4 Florida State and a relief appearance against Minnesota.
 
The righty also contributed two scoreless innings in a combined shutout vs. Memphis.
 
Before Charlotte, Barlow was the Conference Player of the Year and team MVP for South Mecklenburg High School with whom she helped to the school's first conference softball title.
 

MAKAYLA HUDDLESTON
Huddleston went 1-1 across six appearances as a freshman with the Spartans. The Kent, Ohio, native tossed 4.2 innings of two-run ball at Boseman Field last February and also made appearances against Arkansas, Duke and Villanova.
 
Huddleston played club softball for the Tennessee Mojo and Miami Valley Express and was named the Suburban Pitcher of the Year for her efforts.


MARY GRACE BEYER
Beyer makes the trip east from the Queen City to the Port City where she will have four years of eligibility remaining.
 
The Albertson, N.C., product attended South Lenoir High School where she also played basketball and volleyball. She was the 2A State and District Player of the Year as a junior as well as a two-time All-District and All-State honoree.
