Anderson, Parks Set School Records at Duke

DURHAM, North Carolina – UNCW's Nickolis Anderson and Josh Parks broke school records in the Men's 400 Meters and 110 Meter Hurdles, respectively, as the Seahawks' men's and women's outdoor track and field programs closed out the three-day Duke Invitational at the Morris Williams Stadium on Saturday.

Anderson's 45.97 sprint in the 400 Meters took first and was also a meet record at Duke. Parks reset his own previous record in the 110 Meter Hurdles with a 13.57 time to top the event and also fashioned a 50.52 mark to win the 400 Meter Hurdles.

Sophomore J.T. Allen also continued his rise with a personal record of 13.64, which trails only Parks on UNCW's all-time list, to take second in the Men's 110 Meter Hurdles. Parks and Allen have formed the foundation of what is currently the sixth-ranked Men's Hurdles group in the nation according to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Senior Mackenzie Townsend soared into third all-time in the Women's 400 Meters with a 55.71 time that was good for 18th among 50 entries at Duke.

Allen, Anderson, Parks and Townsend were joined by six other athletes – Bailey Tart (Women's Pole Vault), Rebekah Smith (Women's Javelin), Isabella Borelli (Women's 800M), Brylee Montanari (Women's 100 Hurdles), Quinn Broderick (Men's Javelin) and Owen Marish (Men's 800 Meters), who entered into the Seahawks' all-time leaderboard that further highlight the growing depth of both men's and women's programs.

In Jumps, fifth-year Courtney Lines placed third in the Women's Long Jump with a leap of 5.93 meters (19-05.5). Sophomore Ivan Poag matched his personal best with a 2.00 meter jump in the Men's High Jump for fifth and authored a 14.17 meter jump in the Triple Jump for sixth.

The UNCW Men's Javelin squad, ranked 11th nationally per the USTFCCCA, earned three top 10 results in the event at Duke: Ryan DeBarber (4th – 62.77m), Broderick (61.63m) and Miles Higgins (8th – 59.06m).

The men's and women's track and field teams are idle until a split squad weekend at the East Coast Relays in Jacksonville, Fla., and the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa., from Apr. 25-27.

Coach Jeff Klaves Says:
"These outstanding performances are indicative of what we have always known this group was capable of. Our depth up-and-down the roster at all class levels was on full display this weekend and will continue to set us up for success moving forward."
