Casas Makes MLS Debut with Inter Miami CF

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW men's soccer alum Pep Casas made his Major League Soccer debut with Inter Miami CF in the 74th minute of Miami's match at the New York Red Bulls on Saturday afternoon at the Red Bull Arena.

Casas subbed in for defender Julian Gressel and played 15 minutes for Miami's top team after signing a short-term contract with the club from Inter Miami CF II early Saturday.

A 2023 All-Coastal Athletic Association Second-Teamer, Casas became the sixth UNCW men's soccer alum to be drafted into the MLS when Miami took the Barcelona, Spain, native in the third round (61st overall) of the MLS SuperDraft last December.

Casas, who was also named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Atlantic Region Second Team, scored two goals and contributed an assist as a key cog in the Seahawk midfield last fall.

The 5-10 midfielder was a mainstay in the Seahawk midfield over the previous two seasons, appearing in every possible game (33) with 30 starts.

Casas becomes the third Seahawk along with Colin Bonner and Brad Knighton to appear in the MLS during Head Coach Aidan Heaney's tenure.
