MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina – UNCW's
Ryan Hunt amassed 5,158 points in the Men's Decathlon and
Amanda Ruffin scored 3,829 points in the Women's Heptathlon to lead the Seahawks, who wrapped up the two-day Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational on Friday at the Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.
Hunt finished in the top three in the men's 100 meters (11.36) and discus throw (34.21m) while Ruffin won the women's 200 meters with a 26.31 time and placed top three in the Long Jump with a 5.26-meter leap.
Brayden Richards, who ran unattached, won the Decathlon with 5,791 points and Coastal Carolina's Ebba Hedberg claimed top honors in the Heptathlon with 5,095 marks.
Other schools who competed at the two-day meet include Allen, Brescia, Coastal Carolina, Indiana (Pa.), Indiana Kokomo, Lock Haven, Northern State, Randolph, Shaw, St. Thomas Aquinas, Swarthmore and Tufts.
UNCW continues its outdoor season at the Phoenix Invitational hosted by Elon on Mar. 22.
