UNCW Sends Pair To ITA Regionals Round Of 32

ROME, Ga. – UNCW's doubles team of Alex de Gabriele and Joseph Wayand advanced to the round of 32 on Thursday at the ITA Conference Masters Championships. Wayand also advanced to the singles round of 32 earlier in the day.

The top four singles finishers and the top three doubles teams advance to the NCAA Championships later this month in Waco, Texas.

De Gabriele and Wayand posted a 4-6, 7-5, 10-5 win over Davis Wiley and Cole Brashear of Richmond to advance to Friday's round of 32 match. The duo will take on Jack Davison and Brogan Pierce of Western Michigan at 12:30 p.m.

Wayand opened his day with a win over Siena's Oscar Martinez, 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 in the round of 32. In the following round, Wayand dropped a 7-5, 6-4 decision to Amar Tahirovic of Bucknell.
