MBB Fan Guide: Fayetteville State

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The first of a school-record 19 opportunities for Seahawk Nation to descend upon Trask Coliseum happens Wednesday when the UNCW men's basketball team hosts Fayetteville State for a 7 p.m. tip-off in an exhibition contest.

UNCW and Fayetteville State will meet for the first time in an exhibition. The two schools have only met four times in the regular season, most recently in 1975.


SEAHAWKS IN THE PRESEASON
The Seahawks enter their fifth season under Head Coach Takayo Siddle, who has guided UNCW to three straight seasons with at least 20 wins for the first time in program history.

UNCW was picked to finish third in the CAA Preseason Poll as voted on by the league's 14 head coaches. UNCW graduate transfers Joshua Corbin and Bo Montgomery were named All-CAA Honorable Mentions.


SCOUTING THE BRONCOS
Fayetteville State went 18-13 last season, including an 11-7 CIAA record. The Broncos made a run to the CIAA Championship Game, falling 54-51 to Lincoln (Pa.). FSU was picked to finished third in the CIAA.

Three Broncos were named to the Preseason All-CIAA Team: Tairell Fletcher and Ezekiel Cannedy shared preseason honors with Caleb Simmons.


LOOKING AHEAD

UNCW opens the 2024-25 regular season on Monday vs. Mount Olive at 7 p.m. followed by a Friday, Nov. 8, contest vs. Georgia Southern.

The Seahawks will play their first two regular season games at home for the first time in five seasons when they opened with three straight home contests.
