Women's Basketball Preview: Northeastern

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW women's basketball returns to the confines of Trask Coliseum for its Coastal Athletic Association home opener vs. Northeastern on Friday night at 7 p.m.

UNCW and Northeastern have previously met 34 times since the Huskies joined the CAA for the 2005-06 academic year. Friday will be the 18th meeting between the schools in Wilmington.

A pair of first-year head coaches will square off on Friday in UNCW's Nicole Woods and Northeastern's Priscilla Edwards-Lloyd.

LAST TIME OUT
Redshirt freshman Taylor Henderson equaled her career-high with 26 points in UNCW's 66-58 loss at Stony Brook on Sunday. Henderson's third career 20-point effort was aided by senior Evan Miller's 12 points. Sophomore Mingaile Urmuleviciute pulled down a career-best 11 rebounds.

The Seahawks are playing at home for the second time in 47 days.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
The Huskies boast the CAA's leading scorer in senior guard Derin Erodgan (16.4 ppg). The Arizona transfer averaged 29.5 points in Northeastern's CAA-opening setbacks vs. Delaware and at Drexel.

The Huskies enter averaging 72.7 ppg over their last three games.

LOOKING AHEAD
UNCW continues a three-game homestead on Sunday vs. Drexel at Noon. World-famous acrobat Red Panda is set to perform at halftime. The game will be followed by the UNCW men's basketball team battling Delaware at 4 p.m.
