Lanz Leads UNCW With 11 Kills In Loss To ECU

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Angeles Alderete's 14 kills led East Carolina to a 3-0 sweep and a second win on the day for the Pirates on Friday at the Hampton Inn and Suites Classic in Trask Coliseum.

The Pirates raised their record to 6-2 on the season with the pair of wins, including a sweep of Norfolk State earlier in the day. The Seahawks, meanwhile, dropped to 3-5 with the home loss.

UNCW graduate student Katie Lanz, making her second appearance of the season following an injury, paced the Seahawks with 11 kills and added two blocks.

The Pirates, who committed just 10 hitting errors in the match, out-hit the Seahawks, .299-.194, and finished with a narrow 6-5 advantage in blocks.

The Seahawks close out their weekend on Saturday with a 5 p.m. start against Norfolk State at Trask Coliseum.
