Hofstra Rallies Past UNCW, 2-1

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Hofstra used two second half goals to rally past the UNCW women's soccer team, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at the UNCW Soccer Stadium.

The first-place Pride moved to 7-2-1 overall with a 4-0-1 mark in the Coastal Athletic Association. The Seahawks fell to 3-6-1, including a 2-2-1 league record.

The two teams collected 11 of their combined 14 shots in the second half. Both UNCW and Hofstra had three corner kicks in the contest.

Freshman Viktoria Hankova continued her strong rookie season with her third goal of the season in the ninth minute. Hankova booted in a pass from sophomore Issy Bryant.

The Pride tied the game in the 54th minute on a header by Olivia Pearse from a set piece played by Aimee Hodgson.

Hofstra took the lead on a late goal by Mathilde Braithwaite that was assisted by Thorhildur Thorhallsdottir.

The Seahawks resume CAA play at Campbell next Sunday, Oct. 1, at 1 p.m.
