Camels Finish Off Season Sweep Of Seahawks

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell finished off a home-and-home sweep of UNCW with a 24-5 win on Tuesday at Perry Stadium.

The eighth-ranked Camels improved to 37-10 while the Seahawks dropped to 27-18.

For Campbell, Lawson Harrill drove in five runs on the strength of a pair of home runs while Tyler Halstead scored three times and doubled twice.

Jake Murray (4-0) earned the win with five innings of work for the Camels.

Alec DeMartino and Jac Croom had three and two hits, respectively, for the Seahawks.

Luke Craig was saddled with his first loss of the season to fall to 3-1.

The Seahawks head back to conference play on Friday when they visit the College of Charleston for a 6 p.m. start at Patriots Point.

How it happened: Campbell jumped on the Seahawks in the bottom of the first for seven runs on three homers.

Home Runs: CAM: Belbin (15, in the first inning off Craig to right, 461 feet, 110 exit velocity), Harrill 2 (16, in the first inning off Craig to left center, 429 feet, 104 exit velocity; in the third inning off Murdock to center field, 419 feet, 104 exit velocity), Knipp (10, in the first inning off Craig to left center, 410 feet, 103 exit velocity)

Notes: The Seahawks have now lost their last four meetings with the Camels … The last time UNCW gave up at least 23 runs was a 23-16 loss to Richmond to open the 2008 season.
