Long Balls Propel Campbell Past UNCW, 6-2

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Home runs by Jarrod Belbin, Bryce Arnold and Chandler Riley keyed Campbell's red-hot offense in a 6-2 win over UNCW on Tuesday in non-conference baseball action at Brooks Field.

The Camels, who were ranked as high as 11th nationally, pushed their record to 28-8 while the Seahawks, who have gone 5-5 in their last 10, dropped to 21-14.

Logan Jordan and Bryce Arnold each had two hits apiece for the Camels, who stranded 14 base runners and struck out 17 times on the night.

Starter Hunter Loyd (3-4) earned the win with six innings of four-hit, shutout baseball. Aaron Rund earned his fourth save of the season with three innings of relief.

Jac Croom and Trevor Marsh paced UNCW with two hits each. Marsh belted his ninth home run of the season to avert a shutout in the ninth.

Cyle Phelan (0-1) took the loss for the Seahawks. The lefthander allowed one run, on a home run, walked two and struck out three in his two innings of work.

The Seahawks host Delaware in Colonial Athletic Association action this weekend, beginning on Friday with a 6 p.m. start.

How it happened: Leading 2-0 going into the eighth, Campbell got its offense cooking when Riley and Belbin hit back-to-back homers to open the frame and make it 4-0. For Riley, it was his first home run of the season and his fourth extra base hit.
