Seahawks, Parks Dominate T&F Invitational

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men's and women's track and field teams continued their gold rush on Saturday's final day of the 2023 Seahawk Invitational, collecting 15 more first-place finishes as the two-day meet drew to a close at the Harold Greene Track and Field Complex.
 
The Seahawks finished their first outdoor meet of the season with 17 gold medals, with numerous top-10 performances by the young team.
 
Senior Josh Parks raked in three medals during Saturday's proceedings, including first place in the Men's 110 Meter Hurdles with a 13.75 time. The time was faster than his qualifying standard of 14.95 for the 2022 NCAA East Preliminary Round. The Kannapolis, N.C., product also won the Men's 100 and 200 Meters.
 
The Seahawks saluted five team members making their final home appearances: Gretchen Bingham, Kendall Hobbs, Maddie Norr, Brynn Sheffield and Taylen West.
 
"It was a great day to be a Seahawk," said UNCW Head Track & Field Coach Jeff Klaves. "We want to thank everyone involved in the meet. It was great to see so many alumni come out and support the teams. It was a great event all the way around."
 
The Seahawks hosted seven men's teams and eight women's teams over the two days.
