Men's Track and Field Joe Browning

Lara Leads Trio of First Place Finishers

HIGH POINT, North Carolina – Sophomore Donovan Lara cleared a personal best 6-10.75 in the high jump to headline a trio of first place finishes for the UNCW men's and women's track and field teams on the final day of the Bill Webb Combined/Bob Davidson Memorial on Saturday at High Point's Dick Vert Stadium.
 
Lara, who advanced to last year's NCAA East Preliminary Round with a jump of 6-10.25 on April 16, 2022, eclipsed that mark during Saturday's meet. The height represents the fourth best all-time for the Seahawks.
 
Junior Jayda Hunter (triple jump) and senior Courtney Lines (long jump) also notched gold medals in the competition. Hunter captured first place in the triple jump with a leap of 39-03.75 to beat out Elon's Linn Hertz Saebbo. Lines continued her outstanding final season by winning the long jump with a mark of 20.00.25 to place ahead of Morgan State's Tia Jackson at 19-04.75.
 
In addition, freshman Bailey Tart matched the 10th best mark in school history in the pole vault with a height of 11-05.75. Junior Kendall Hobbs, who won the 5,000 Meters on Friday, moved into No. 10 on the all-time list with her 17:39.05 time.
 
Student-athletes from 30 men's teams and 25 women's teams competed in the two-day meet.
 
The Seahawks return to action next week by competing in the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State.
