Sparks Fashions Career-Low Tournament Score

LIHUE, KAUA'I, HAWAII – Junior Patrick Sparks carded a 54-hole career-low score of 209 to lead UNCW and finish tied for 21st overall at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate on Friday at the Ocean Course at Hokuala.

The Seahawks wrapped up the tournament finishing 14th in the 21-team field, climbing six spots in the standings following a tough opening round. BYU earned tournament championship honors with an 18-stroke win over 15th-ranked Arizona.

Sam Bennett of Texas A&M and Sampson Zheng tied for medalist honors at 18-under for the tournament.

Sparks opened the tournament with a one-over-par 73, but rallied in the final two rounds, including a season-low round of 67 in the third round.

Next for the Seahawks is the Auburn Intercollegiate on Mar. 5-7.
