White Named National Player of the Week

Junior forward lands on Oscar Robertson National List

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW junior forward Trazarien White was one of five collegiate basketball players to be named Oscar Roberton National Players of the Week by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association on Tuesday following an impressive win for the Seahawks at Kentucky.

White, who averaged a double-double over the course of two games, was joined by Boo Buie (Northwestern), Boogie Ellis (Southern Cal), Baylor Scheierman (Creighton), and Shahada Wells (McNeese).

For the week, White averaged 20.5 points and 10.5 rebounds while shooting 52% (13-for-25) from the field.

Hailing from Mansfield, Texas, White poured in a career-high 27 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in UNCW's 80-73 win over nationally-ranked Kentucky on Saturday at Rupp Arena. Earlier in the week, he scored 14 points and hauled in a team-high 11 rebounds against East Carolina.

The Seahawks return to the floor on Dec. 10 when they host Montreat at 2 p.m.
