Softball Signs Five for 2025

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW Softball Head Coach Ashley Wade has announced a five-player signing class for the Seahawks for the 2025 season.

"This class brings a lot of defensive consistency and offensive power to an already strong Seahawk program," said Wade. "This, combined with their experience playing for high-level travel organizations, will help them compete as soon as they step foot on campus.

"This highly-decorated group knows what it takes to win at a high level and we are looking forward to them bringing that competitive edge to Wilmington."

Sierra Persinger
Position: C/IF

Highlights: Ranked 62nd in the Extra Elite 100 rankings … Three-sport athlete at Liberty High School under Coach Scott Howard who also ran track (freshman year) and played soccer (sophomore year) … batted .436 with 52 RBI and a 1.555 on-base percentage for the Blue Jays ... recorded 270 putouts with a .965 fielding percentage at Liberty as a junior backstop … spent summer 2023 with Top Gun's 16-U National team under Coach Bob Turner … slugged .450 with a .260 average and drove in 15 runs … produced 80 putouts on the travel circuit with three errors … Named 1st Team All-Conference and 1st Team All-District in her senior campaign, while breaking the Liberty High School single-season and career home run records

Coach Wade Says: "Behind the plate, Sierra's smooth glovework combined with her strong arm and ability to control a field will be a pitchers' dream. She had a breakout season offensively this fall, including breaking single-season and career homerun records, so we are looking forward to seeing her continue to excel as she transitions into college."

Highlights: Played under Coach David Bryant at Pleasant Valley High School, where she also played volleyball as a freshman … hit .454 with eight home runs and 13 doubles along with a .546 on-base percentage … averaged .279 with twelve hits including a pair of homers.

Coach Wade Says: "Madyson has the ability to change the game with one swing which is a factor we are excited to bring to our offense. She brings a wealth of experience playing at the highest level, as the competition she faces each week will help her seamlessly transition into college on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball."

Lynsie Herman
Position: P/OF

High School: Crofton High School
Club Team:  TNT Maryland – 18 U
 
Highlights: Two-way player who hit .434 with 33 hits, 34 runs and 16 RBI at Crofton High School under Coach Sarah Bible … struck out 128 batters in the circle in 61 innings while limiting opponents to 22 runs … recorded a 1.26 ERA with an .836 WHIP at Crofton … opponents hit .193 against Herman on the travel circuit under Coach Meredith McAlister … produced a .368 average for TNT Maryland that included 19 RBI … named the USA HPP Top Performer in the 16-U age group.

Coach Wade Says: "In the circle, Lynsie's command and spin have proven to be an effective recipe for success. As a lefty, she brings a completely different look to our pitching staff, as they will complement each other very well. Her versatility as a player will also add depth offensively and in the outfield."

Highlights: Three-sport star at Baylor High School who played softball under Coach Smith … also played basketball and volleyball … Triple Crown Nationals 18U Gold Champions … Alliance Nationals 18U Tier I third-place finish, Three-time Tennessee State Champion and  All-State Selection … hit .498 with 38 hits, four home runs and scored 38 runs … went 20-20 in stolen base attempts.

Coach Wade Says: "Addi is a strong offensive triple threat, while her speed helps her excel both on the bases and in the outfield. She is a proven winner and has been an offensive leader for a strong Fury team that made a deep run at Nationals, excelling against top competition week after week."
 

Cammie Stuffel
Position: IF/OF
Height: 5-8

Hometown: Suffolk, Va.
High School: Nansemond River
Club Team: Hanover Hornets
 
Highlights: Two-time Virginia Gatorade Player of the Year and a two-time Region 5B Player of the Year … set Virginia's single-season home run record with 18 four-baggers while hitting .635 last spring … drove in 44 runs and produced a .678 on-base percentage as well as a slugging percentage of 1.541 … began her junior season with a home run in her first six games …she has a career .534 batting average, .598 OBP, 1.095 slugging percentage, 106 hits, 30 doubles, 73 RBI, 88 runs, 26 stolen bases and 25 walks.

Coach Wade Says: "Cammie's strong glovework, strong arm, and keen game sense will enhance the Seahawk infield. Offensively, she is a game changer who brings an incredible amount of pop to our lineup. Cammie is coming off an impressive record-breaking high school season last spring, so I'm excited to see her pursuit of breaking her own records."
