Women's Tennis Team Adds Eberwein

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW women's tennis team has announced the signing of German standout Alicia Eberwein for the 2023-24 season.

The addition of Eberwein gives Coach Hans Olsen and the Seahawks three signees for next year. Lucia Gomez (Castello, Spain) and Katelyn Hubbard (Richmond, Va.) made commitments earlier in the signing period.

Eberwein, from Wiesbaden, Germany, attends Oranienschool in Wiesbaden and is ranked No. 214 in the German women's rankings. She advanced to the quarterfinals at the ITF Junior 2019 in South Africa and has been a member of the Hessens championship team since age 14.

"I'm very excited to be a part of the tennis team and a Seahawk," said Eberwein. "I am really looking forward to the great experiences and matches that we will have as a team. I am grateful for this opportunity."

Olsen said Eberwein, ranked 37th in the U-18s in Germany, will bring additional experience to next year's club.

Olsen said, "We're excited to announce the addition of Alicia. She is a standout player with international match experience. Alicia is a great fit, both academically and athletically. We look forward to her arrival in August."
