Seahawks Finish Second, Sixth At CAA Meet

DEDHAM, Massachusetts – Junior Josh Parks was named Co-Track Most Outstanding Performer as the UNCW men's and women's teams closed out the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association Track & Field Championships on Saturday at the Solomon Track.

The men finished with 238 points, just 26 points off the total of 264 points accumulated by Northeastern, which won its seventh consecutive title. William & Mary (102) finished third and Hofstra came in fourth (8).

Elon captured the CAA women's crown with 195 points, followed by Delaware (154), Towson (148), William & Mary (115), Northeastern (107.5), UNCW (65.5), Charleston (25) and Hofstra (5).

UNCW won eight events – six men's and two women's – in the competition. Parks was a double winner, capturing first place in the Men's 110 Hurdles and Men's 400 Hurdles. Twenty different Seahawks medaled, topped by Parks, who won six medals over the two days, including two gold, one silver and three bronze. The Kannapolis, N.C., product shared MOP honors on the track side with Northeastern's Donatien Djero, who set a meet record in the 100 Meters on Saturday with a time of 10.32.

UNCW won six of its eight titles on Saturday's final day of action as the men made a charge at NU's stranglehold on the championship. Overall, seven different Seahawk student-athletes won multiple medals in the meet.

In Saturday's action, the Seahawks swept the Men's High Jump and Men's 400 Hurdles. The Seahawks went 1-2-3 in the High Jump behind freshman Donovan Lara (6-04.75), senior Owen Pelletier (6-02.75) and Parks (6-00.75). In the 400 Hurdles, Parks (55.92), freshman JT Allen (57.26) and freshman Khairi Williams (57.82) completed another sweep.

The Men's 4x400 Relay Team won the UNCW squad's lone relay event when Nickolis Anderson, Zeke Shore, Dalton Zimmerman and Cooper Wright clocked a 3:20.68.

In women's action, sophomore Jayda Hunter claimed the Women's Triple Jump with a mark of 39-01.25 and junior Maddie Norr won a bronze medal in the Women's High Jump by leaping 5-03.

Overall, the Seahawks set one freshman record and five top-10 times over the two days at the Solomon Track.
