DURHAM, North Carolina – Strong efforts by a pair of freshmen and a solid performance by veteran pole vaulter Elise Hall highlighted UNCWs results on Friday in the Duke Invitational at Morris Williams Stadium.
 
"We continue to get a total team effort as we look to improve our rankings in the conference, the region and ultimately on the national level," said third-year UNCW head coach Jeff Klaves. "We want to put ourselves in a position to qualify for the NCAA championships in May."
 
First-year Seahawk competitors Owen Marish (Collingswood, N.J.) and Taylor Rand (Weddington, N.C.) turned in solid performances on Friday. Marish was the team's top finisher in the Men's 1,500 Meters with a time of 4:10.17. Rand clocked a 18:48.15 time in the Women's 5,000 Meters. "There's a bright future ahead for our young squad," added Klaves.
 
Hall cleared 11-7.75 in the Women's Pole Vault, tying the Raleigh product for seventh on the school's all-time list.
