Baseball Preview: Elon

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Elon visits Brooks Field this weekend in another key Colonial Athletic Association as we enter the second half of the conference schedule.

The series, which will be streamed on FloBaseball.tv and can be head on ESPN Wilmington, opens on Friday with a 6 p.m. start.

The Phoenix (18-21, 3-9 CAA) is coming off a sweep at the hands of conference-leader Charleston while the Seahawks earned a series win at Delaware. The road series win was the first for UNCW since 2020 when it rolled through Kentucky for three wins in Lexington.

UNCW's freshmen rotation of RJ Sales, Cyle Phelan and Zane Taylor will take the mound for a fifth consecutive weekend. The trio has combined for a 2.52 earned run average and has limited opponents to a .202 batting average.

Phelan ranks among the NCAA leaders with a 1.49 ERA and .149 opponent batting average.

The series continues Saturday with a 4 p.m. start. UNCW will welcome all alumni back to Brooks Field and will honor the 2012 CAA Championship team prior to first pitch on Saturday.
