Taylor Heads Up UNCW Draft Picks

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Led by Zane Taylor and Tanner Thach being selected in the fifthand eighth rounds, UNCW saw five Seahawks drafted on Monday, the second day of the Major League Baseball Draft.

Taylor was one of two Seahawks to be tabbed by the Athletics, being joined by Bryan Arendt in the 13th round. Arendt was one of three UNCW players to go in the 13th round.

Thach was taken by Colorado, and a pair of relievers, Trace Baker and Aubrey Smith, went to Toronto and Houston, respectively, in that 13th round.

The five selections were the most for UNCW since the 2018 draft, when the program tied a record with six players selected.

The draft of Taylor and Thach pushed UNCW's number of top-10 round picks to 23 and the program's total number of draftees to 92.
