Hunt Snags Third In Decathlon At High Point

HIGH POINT, North Carolina – Reigning Colonial Athletic Association decathlon champion Ryan Hunt of UNCW finished third overall as the Bill Webb Combined Events/Bob Davidson Memorial drew to a close on Saturday at High Point's Vert Stadium.

Hunt, from Durham, N.C., piled up 5,672 points over the 10 grueling events and trailed only High Point's Evan Mills (6,378) and Tucker Conine (5,838) in the competition. Hunt won the 110 Meter Hurdles segment with a 15.70 time and finished second in the 100 Meters at 11.33.

Hunt ran the second best hurdle time of his career and set a personal best in the Pole Vault. He moved into ninth all-time on the school's Decathlon list.

Another Seahawk junior, Courtney Lines of Leland, N.C., posted a fourth place finish in the Heptathlon. Lines totaled 4,504 points to finish behind Lipscomb's Anna Richardson (4,752), Aislinn McElhaney (4,650) and Bella Jackson (4,510) in the standings. Lines won the 200 Meters (25.13) and Long Jump (20-3.50) portions of the competition.

Lines set a UNCW outdoor school record and a stadium record in the Long Jump. She also set a personal best in the javelin and moved into third all-time in the Heptathlon in the Seahawk record books.

Next on the schedule for the Seahawk thinclads is an appearance in the Raleigh Relays next weekend, March 25-26, in the capital city.
