Women's Tennis Team Welcomes Three Newcomers

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The UNCW women's tennis team has announced the addition of three new recruits for the 2022-23 season.
 
The newcomers include Meredith Taylor (Birmingham, Ala.), Eda Arli (Izmir, Turkey) and Gabriela Glickstein (Raleigh, N.C.). "We're very excited about adding these three newcomers to the Seahawk family," said Hans Olsen, UNCW's veteran head coach. "We're looking forward to their arrival in August."
 
Taylor, a four-star recruit from Evangel Christian School and the daughter of Mark and Jan Taylor, won the Alabama Junior Spring Closed Championship in both singles and doubles. She was also a two-time winner of the Alabama Junior Clay Court State Championship."

Coach Olsen says: "We're excited to have Meredith join our team. Our coaching staff watched her compete at the National Clay Court Championships and were very impressed with her game. She's a fierce competitor and plays with a lot of heart and determination."

Meredith Taylor Comments: "I'm so thankful that tennis led me to UNCW. It's a great school. I'm very excited to be a student there and become a part of the tennis team."

Arli hails from Izmir, Turkey, and graduated from Okyanus College. The daughter of Ibrahim and Serap Arli competed for the Turkish National Team and won an ITF junior doubles title. She has climbed as high as No. 670 in the ITF junior rankings.

Coach Olsen says: "We're excited to have Eda join the Seahawk family. Eda brings a lot of experience traveling internationally on the ITF circuit, with strong results in both singles and doubles. She's a great fit with our team and we look forward to having her join us in the fall."

Eda Arli Comments: "I'm very excited to play on the UNCW women's tennis team next fall. I will contribute very well and improve myself. I believe we will have very good seasons and will be very successful."
 
Glickstein is a four-star recruit out of North Carolina Crossroads Flex High School. She was two-time team champion in USTA Zonal competition representing the Eastern section. She was ranked number 1 in North Carolina's USTA rankings and placed second in the 2020 North Carolina State Qualifier.

The daughter of Eric and Robin Glickstein was a National Honor Society senior representative in high school.
 
Coach Olsen says: "Gabbie is another great addition to the Seahawk family. We're impressed with Gabbie's strong work ethic and all-court game. We've spent a lot of quality time with Gabbie through the recruiting process and it feels like she's already part of the team. We're looking forward to Gabbie joining the Seahawks."

Gabriela Glickstein's Comments: "I'm beyond excited to begin my journey as a Seahawk. Becoming a part of a team like this has always been a huge dream of mine. I can't wait to continue on my path with a team that has such amazing girls and great coaches."
