ELON, N.C. – No. 5 UNCW women's tennis fell to No. 4 Charleston in the Coastal Athletic Association quarterfinals, 4-1, on Friday at Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
UNCW finished the season 9-7 overall, while Charleston improved to 16-9 to advance to the semifinals to take on top-seeded Elon on Saturday. The Seahawks' six conference wins during the regular season were the most since at least the 2006-07 campaign.
Lucia Gomez and Anna Parker Shumate kicked off the morning for the Seahawks with a 6-0 shutout victory in No. 3 doubles against Jaidon McKee and Mckenzie Daniel, defeating the Cougars' pairing for the second time in 2025. Gomez and Shumate ended the season 9-3, winning their last seven matches.
Stela Joksimovic and Alicia Eberwein clinched the doubles point after a long rally to finish the season with their team-leading 11th win in No. 2 doubles with a 6-3 triumph against Oziera Ahmad and Maja Jekauc. Joksimovic and Eberwein won their fifth straight match after avenging their 6-1 loss to Ahmad and Jekauc on March 29 in the regular season.
The Cougars responded in singles, claiming all four matches for the victory.
