Radio Coverage Set For Seahawk Basketball

 
WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Fans can listen to live radio coverage of UNCW men's and women's basketball on 95.9 FM The Breeze again in 2022-23.
 
The Seahawks continue to partner with Sunrise Broadcasting, Inc., to provide all of the exciting action of every Seahawk men's game and all home women's contests.
 
thebreezeVeteran broadcasters Mike Vaccaro and Marty Feurer return this season for radio coverage of the 2022 College Basketball Invitational champions. The 2022-23 campaign marks the 41st season with men's basketball games on the radio or internet.
 
Vaccaro begins his 19th year as the play-by-play voice for the Seahawks. The graduate of Syracuse's Newhouse School of Public Communications previously worked six seasons at Campbell University before coming to UNCW in 2004-05.
 
The women's action will be delivered by play-by-play commentators John Smist, a former sports anchor at WECT-TV, and Elijah Mize, with color analyst Tom Lamont also on the crew.
 
Coverage of the women's schedule begins Saturday, Oct. 29, when the Seahawks take on Virginia Union in a 2 p.m. exhibition game at Trask Coliseum. The first men's broadcast is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, as the Seahawks entertain Emory & Henry at 7 p.m.
 
In addition to carrying the men's games, the station will feature a rebroadcast of "Talkin' to Takayo" each Monday from 7-8 p.m. on The Breeze. The live call-in show is staged Mondays from Noon-1 p.m. at Buffalo Wild Wings on Old Eastwood Road in Wilmington.
 
Sunrise is a division of Capitol Broadcasting, a television and radio company based in Raleigh that operates minor league baseball's Durham Bulls and the North Carolina News Network. Sunrise also operates WMFD-AM (ESPN), WKXB-FM, WAZO-FM, WSFM-FM and WLGD-FM.
