Warren Makes Debut And Shines

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Austin Warren needed just two pitches to escape an eighth-inning jam in his major league debut for the Los Angeles Angels Thursday night in a 4-0 loss to American League West rival Oakland.

Warren, became the 12th Seahawk to reach the major leagues, retired all four batters he faced including a 1-2-3 eighth inning that was capped with a strikeout of Sean Murphy.

In the seventh inning, Warren took over for Jose Quintana with the bases loaded and two out. His first pitch, a slider, to Ramon Laureano crossed the plate for a strike. Ahead in the count, Warren busted Laureano with a fastball in on the hands to induce a weak ground ball to first to end the inning.

Warren is the second Seahawk from the 2018 Colonial Athletic Association championship team to reach the majors, joining former battery mate Ryan Jeffers, who made his debut with the Twins last season.
