WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCWSports.com will look at the members of the UNCW Department of Athletics staff with a weekly feature called "Seahawk Staff Spotlight." Each Tuesday, the website will profile a different member of the staff.
We open the month of April by taking an inside look at
Josh Stott, a 2015 UNCW graduate who serves as the Director of Operations for the Seahawks' baseball team. Stott has been with the Seahawks for seven seasons, including four as the Director of Operations.
What do you remember about your first day working at UNCW?
I remember hitting fungos to our infielders and Coach [Mark] Scalf getting on me and saying in his classic voice, "This is D1 baseball. Hit those things harder at those guys."
What is one of your favorite memories of working at UNCW?
My first CAA championship and NCAA regional at LSU in 2015
What does working at UNCW mean to you?
Working at UNCW means a lot to me. From being here as a student, as a graduate student and as a full-time employee, I have a lot of passion for UNCW and want to be a part of helping take the baseball team to the next level.
If you were an athlete, what jersey number would you want to wear and why?
#5 – It was the number I always wore growing up.
Did you play sports in college? If so, what sport and where did you play?
I played baseball at Methodist University for two years before transferring to UNCW to finish my last two years of undergraduate studies.
