UNCW Athletics Hosts Special Events This Weekend

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The UNCW Athletics Department will host a National Girls & Women in Sports Day Clinic on Friday and Play4Kay Game ceremonies on Sunday. Both events will take place before the respective women's basketball games.

The National Girls & Women in Sports Day Clinic will be held in Hanover Hall on Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. before the women's basketball game at 7 p.m. against Hofstra. Participants must be in sixth grade or younger to be eligible for the clinic. Please RSVP to Mason Mullen (mullenm@uncw.edu), Director Of Marketing And Fan Experience, to receive a free youth ticket and $5 adult tickets. Participants will also receive a free t-shirt courtesy of Patriot Roofing.

Play4Kay games were designed to unite coaches, players, officials, and fans in the fight against all cancers affecting women. The ceremonies will be held before the game against Stony Brook at 1 p.m. on Sunday. A survivor's walk will occur on the court in Trask Coliseum approximately 15 minutes before tip-off. UNCW women's basketball will honor Debbie Kelso (1973-76) as the alumni survivor of the game.

Everyone in attendance or players is encouraged to fill out "I Play For" signs to honor anyone affected by cancer. The first 120 fans will also receive pink t-shirts. Fans can pick up the signs and t-shirts in the front lobby of Trask Coliseum.
