Thomas Makes It Official With Seahawks

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Highly-regarded guard Jamarii Thomas of The Burlington School has signed a National Letter of Intent to play next season for UNCW Head Coach Takayo Siddle and the Seahawks.

The 6-0, 185-pound Thomas averaged 19.0 points, 7.0 assists and 2.5 steals this past season for the Spartans and Head Coach Ryan Bernardi. Thomas sparked The Burlington School to a 24-7 record and the NCISAA 2-A state championship, collecting All-State, Triad All-Star and Hoop State All-Star honors during an outstanding senior season.

"We're very excited to have Jamarii join our Seahawk family," said Siddle. "He is a tremendous competitor and his toughness will be an asset to our team. Jamarii led the Burlington School to a state championship under head coach Ryan Bernardi. The highest compliment I can give Jamarii is that he makes all his teammates better basketball players."

Thomas missed the 2018-19 year at High Point Christian Academy following an injury, but bounced back as a junior to average 15.6 points, 2.9 assists, 1.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.8 steals for Piedmont Classical High School's Bobcats in 2019-20. He helped Piedmont Classical compile a 25-9 record and win the 2020 CAASC championship and USA National prep Tournament title.

Thomas powered The Burlington School to a 24-7 record during his senior campaign. The Spartans, behind Thomas' 28 points, defeated Northwood Temple Academy, 72-52, at home for the state NCISAA crown. Earlier in the season, Thomas recorded back-to-back 30-point games gainst University Prep Academy and Liberty Heights this past season.

At High Point Christian, Thomas also played slot receiver and cornerback on the school's football team and drew attention from college scouts after piling up 555 all-purpose yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions in just four games.

A native of Hickory, N.C., Thomas played for AAU club Team Curry 17U last summer.
