WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCWSports.com will look at the members of the UNCW Department of Athletics staff with a weekly feature called "Seahawk Staff Spotlight." Each Tuesday, the website will profile a different member of the staff.
This week's feature profiles
Shaun Utterson, a UNCW graduate who has returned to his alma mater as a member of the men's soccer coaching staff. Utterson, who played for the Seahawks from 2008-11, is in his third season at UNCW.
What do you remember about your first day working at UNCW?
Lunch with the coaching staff and cleaning and reorganizing the office
What is one of your favorite memories of working at UNCW?
Winning the CAA regular season championship at home in 2019
What does working at UNCW mean to you?
Representing the Wilmington community through athletics and helping our players develop on and off the field.
If you were an athlete, what jersey number would you want to wear and why?
#2 because my birthday is Feb. 2
Did you play sports in college? If so, what sport and where did you play?
I played soccer at UNCW and started 76-of-77 games in my career. I also helped UNCW win the 2009 CAA championship and reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
