Seahawk Staff Spotlight: Mait DuBois

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCWSports.com will look at the members of the UNCW Department of Athletics staff with a weekly feature called "Seahawk Staff Spotlight." Each Tuesday, the website will profile a different member of the staff.

Our latest edition profiles UNCW Head Men's Tennis Coach Mait DuBois, who is in his 14th season in the Port City. DuBois has guided the Seahawks to six Colonial Athletic Association championships and seven appearances in the NCAA Tournament.

What do you remember about your first day working at UNCW?
My first day was also the first day for the new athletic director. She was doing a radio interview on my way to campus and they were asking a lot of questions about starting football at UNCW.

What is one of your favorite memories of working at UNCW?
The two best moments have been beating No. 17 South Carolina in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and winning our program's first CAA Championship in 2009.

What does working at UNCW mean to you?
UNCW is a school that I love to recruit to because I would choose it as a young person. I love the relationships I have built with our alumni, the culture we have built as a program and the connection we have to the local community. I take a lot of pride in what we have built and I love that we get to do it in one of the best locations in the United States.

If you were an athlete, what jersey number would you want to wear and why?
#4 – It's my lucky number.

Did you play sports in college? If so, what sport and where did you play?
I was a two-year team captain for the tennis team at Charleston Southern University. I was also voted as the team MVP my senior year for the first-ever conference championship team.
