WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCWSports.com will look at the members of the UNCW Department of Athletics staff with a weekly feature called "Seahawk Staff Spotlight." Each Tuesday, the website will profile a different member of the staff.

This week's installment highlights Drew Scales, who has served as the Seahawks' Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Support Services for the last six years.

What do you remember about your first day working at UNCW? 
Being ready to hit the ground running.

What is one of your favorite memories of working at UNCW?
Being a part of the women's tennis team's CAA Tournament run in 2017. If I could add one more, it would have to be the staff home run derby at the softball field.   

What does working at UNCW mean to you?
An opportunity to positively impact the lives of student-athletes.

If you were an athlete, what jersey number would you want to wear and why?
42 because of Jackie Robinson

Did you play sports in college? If so, what sport and where did you play?
I played tennis at Morehouse College.
