Seahawk Staff Spotlight: Beau Bunn

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCWSports.com will look at the members of the UNCW Department of Athletics staff with a weekly feature called "Seahawk Staff Spotlight." Each Tuesday, the website will profile a different member of the staff.

In this week's edition, we look at diving coach Beau Bunn, a 1999 UNCW graduate who embarks on his ninth year as a member of the Seahawks' swimming and diving coaching staff.

What do you remember about your first day working at UNCW?
Walking back on the deck as a coach versus being a student-athlete was an amazing experience knowing that I was going to be giving student-athletes the same experiences I had as a student-athlete at UNCW.

What is one of your favorite memories of working at UNCW?
Winning two Colonial Athletic Association championships and watching student-athletes mature and graduate.

What does working at UNCW mean to you?
To be able to give student-athletes an opportunity to experience UNCW like I did as a student-athlete is both a privilege and an honor.

If you were an athlete, what jersey number would you want to wear and why?
Numbers are numbers. Divers didn't have jerseys.

Did you play sports in college? If so, what sport and where did you play?
I was a diver at UNCW and earned CAA Diver of the Year honors in 1997 and 1998 after being named the CAA Rookie of the Year in 1996. I was also a four-time selection as the team's Most Outstanding Diver and earned three gold medals and five silver medals at the CAA Championships in my career.
