Seahawks, Demon Deacons Familiar Foes

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – When the UNCW men's basketball team opens the new season in early November at Wake Forest, it will extend a long, highlight-filled relationship between the two schools that stretches back to the late 70s.

The Seahawks have played the Demon Deacons more than any other Atlantic Coast Conference opponent (14 times). Wake has also appeared at Trask Coliseum on three occasions, tops among other ACC foes.

wake_alertIn the scheduled matchup on Nov. 10 at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, new head coaches Takayo Siddle and Steve Forbes will be guiding their schools for the first time, adding yet another chapter in the memorable series.

Siddle faced WFU six times as an assistant coach at NC State, going 5-1 against the Demon Deacons, including a 2-1 record in Winston-Salem. Forbes, meanwhile, went 0-2 against UNCW during his tenure as the head coach at East Tennessee State.
